hey hun, im afraid at 16 days old its very normal for your little one not to be sleeping much, it will settle down but its going to take a while, my lil man was up every 2 hours when he was first born he started to sleep threw the night at 7 weeks old. you could try starting a routine but i think she may still be a bit young for that, maybe take her to the doctor just to double check shes ok e.g pooing etc etc, xx

Hi hun, sorry to here your going through the sleepless night but i have to agree with carla its pretty much the norm that babies are like that to begin with. Im a mum to 4 children and i went through vairying degrees of sleep deprivation with my first 3 and im still going through it with my 4th who is nearly 7 weeks. Some days i still feel like a walking zombie as she is pretty much every 2 hours for a feed  occasionaly if im lucky a bit longer  but i do no that it gets better so just hang in there its not easy but give it time and im sure it will work out.  If you still feel somthing isnt right trust your instincs as a mum ask your health visitor or your gp  to check your baby over.

Hi Amberrose,

Your baby still needs time to adjust to day and night and is currently working on the opposite schedule to yours.  Try to introduce low lighting, soft music and use a quiet voice to distinguish the difference between day and night.  It worked for me despite breastfeeding every 2 hours!  My little one struggles to poo from approx 3am - 7am every night, but after his nappy change and feed we then go to a warm room and he will sleep on me for 2-3hrs. A nice relief and good opportunity to catch up on sleep.  Please make sure you are drinking plenty of plain water and not tea/coffee, acidic juices or carbonated water as advised by the midwife - it worked for me.  Another tip is to try herbal teas: peppermint, chamomile or FENNEL TEA is excellent.  Good luck!

Totally agree on the no tea/coffee etc. Also I've found that my baby girl always poos about 2 hours after a bath. U cud try that. Regarding the sleep my baby, now 11 weeks old, started sleeping through from 7 weeks so the sleep deprivation your experiencing is completely normal. Do you have a supportive partner cos he can take over a feed at night to help you get some sleep, if you are breast feeding can you express some milk for him to do this? Good luck hun, I know it's hard but ther is light at the end of the tunnel, promise.
