hello,

just a quick question as i am unsure of something, redundencys have just been announced at my place of work and my job is at risk. What Happens if they make me redundent, what can i do? im due on 1st feb 2010 and no1 is going to offer me a job as i am now 26 weeks pregnant. Can they make me redundent? im just really worried now as i have just moved into bigger house and really dont want to be moving house :( has any1 else been in a situation like this or has any advise to help me? thanks Becky and 26 week bump

Hi, I've never had this problem but I was self employed so I know that as long as you have worked for 13weeks in the 12months before you fell pregnant or during your pregnancy that from 29wks pregnant for 40 weeks you can claim maternity allowance from the government.  Its ony about £125 a week but better than nothing.  Contact citizens advice or your job centre for advice on what you'll be able to do if they make you redundant.
