i had both my children at home, neither one of them planned, but i would recommend it to everyone. to be able to sleep in your own bed that first night is the best, just because its all familiar.  the only thing i would say is be strict about visitors. because your at home they can sometimes get too comfy and expect you to entertain them.  i would do it again, maybe under different circumstances, my first was born at home cos my husband had d&v so wasn't allowed to go to the birthing centre, and the second decided to come so quickly that my husband had to deliver her so neither time did we have things ready, but if i could plan a proper home birth then i definately would. hope this helps. x

Hi, i tried to have a homebirth but the babies heartbeat started to drop and recover with my contractions so they transfered me into the hospital at the last minute, all ok in the end it was all a precaution.  So, my piece of advice would be to still pack a hospital back and have it to hand just incase.  I'm glad I was given this advice.  If I have anymore babies I will try for a home birth again, it didn't put me off.  Good luck, Natalie x
