hello, im 35 weeks pregnant with my second baby, im booked in for a section 3rd august which is 3 weeks on monday. i am having a section because my frist birth was long and didnt end well, i started getting contractions on the wed night and was 2cm till the friday night went into hospital they gave me a sweep and sent me home early sat morning was getting contractions every 3 mins, went back to hospital sat afternoon on the sunday morning had 2 shots of dia morphine, then an epidural, and by 11:30 sunday morning was 10cm at last, but my little un's head was twisted they told me id have to go to theatre for forceps delivery, but let me push for 2 hours anyway, so eventually went into theatre got cut but he was stuck and wasnt coming out, but i did eventually give birth to me likkle boy at 2:30 pm weighing 6lb 13. i had suffered a third degree tear needing stitches, and my little boy had a black eye,ear and neck and had partial facial palsy off the forceps(this was fine after bout 6 hours). it took me about 8 months to heal, it took 4 months before i could use the loo without crying, it took bout 8 month for sex to be comfortable againx this baby has been measuing big from 20 weeks but i had a scan yesterday and shes 6lb2 if i went to 40 weeks she'd be bout 9-10lbs. too big to get out anyway. but i have told my midwife if i pop in the next 3 weeks id like to give birth another go, they have told me if i tear again theres a good chance id be left with lifelong problems (incontenance, not much feeling down there). you's probs think am mad wanting to do that again xx but the section is booked xx

just wondering what you's all thought or what you'd do in my situation,, or have been throught this, or a section, be honest please, i dont hold a grudge ,you can say what you want xxx

hi mate - i had an emergency c-section last time as i was unwell in labour and baby was distressed, this time theyve suggested that oi have a planned section for whic him taking their advice and going with it.  last section was great was up and about within 12 hours, my scar has completely gone now (my ddaughters 5 yrs old) and i managed all housewrork within couple weeks.  My friend tore badly with 3 rd degree tear on her first baby and she was advised to have section on second baby but went for natural birth, she tore again and has numerous problems now.  A year on and and she leaks urine/faeces and sex is out of the question, she said she hasnt enjoyed babies first year at all due to problems.  Just make sure you are comfortable with whatever option you go for and good luck!

I could of had a simalar experience to you danielle if I had not demanded a section with my son.  It was only the fact that I fought tooth and nail and threatened to discharge myself that I got a planned section with my son after 2 failed inductions and a last minute ultra sound to check his position.  Unfortunately the spinal block/epidural that I was given worked to well and instead of being numb from the chest I was numb from the neck and found it hard to breath.  It also caused my blood presure to crash through the floor so I have no recollection of the birth at all.  After all that I'm pregnant again and hoping for a natural birth but if I have to have a section then I can at least warn the staff of what happened to me last time so they can prevent it from happening again.  (I'm sorry if this has upset you in any way) I just thought I'd let you know what happend to me.  Just do what you think is best for you and your baby.  I wish you all the best
