Hi, I thought about this myself the other day, and I came to the conclusion that other than at parties and special occasions where other kids are havin it (so as not to disclude my lo) I'm gonna stick to water, milk or diluted fruit juice as there isn't any nutritional value to it and my lo is quite happy with any of the others.  Natalie x

Oh dear, what a terrible mum I am! I've been giving Florence (15mths) squash since she was about 7 months. She saw her big brother having and whisked his away and has demanded it ever since! I'd advice against it because they are so tasty that he'll want it all the time. :-)

I have also been giving my daughter cordial for months, she doesn't like milk (unfortunately) and wouldn't drink very much water, so I tried cordial with the water to encourage her to drink more and she certainly does now. So I am happier for her to drink cordial than very little liquids, but yes, once they get the taste for it it's hard to get them to take just water. Don't use much, can be very watered down. They can't have ribena though, it says on the packaging that it's not suitable for children under 3.

I don't give my little girl cordial or squash but i do give her the dilutable flavouring for water. It has no colouring and only natural flavouring and as it is clear she cant tell that it is more diluted than her older sisters.
