Hi guys, was hoping some-one may have some advise for me. I am planning on breastfeeding, for first 6 months or so at least, but also want to express once established so that partner can feed too etc.

I am going to get the advent breast pump i think. Really was wondering what else i need?? There is a set in mothercare where you get a digital steriliser, bottles, bottle warmer and bottle bag for 99.99 this seemed quite good but do i need it?? don't want to waste money but do like to be prepared lol.

Thanks, kat and 18+6 bump. xx

You need a steriliser and bottles thats for sure, i breast fed both my 2 sons i did try to express but it didnt really work for me but what i did do was if i wanted a break was give them formula milk just another option so you dont feel to pressured. good luck xx

hi. i breast fed my 2 girls. the 1st i expressed the 2nd would have nothing to do with bottles! so it also depends on your baby, it doesn't really matter what you want to do cos in the end you'll have to follow your baby. lol

i think what your willing to pay is a little pricey. ok if your bottle feeding but alot if planning to breast and like my 2nd baby wont take to bottle. there are some cheaper options. i had the advent manual breast pump. worked fine for us. you don't say if you meant manual? obviously their cheaper. i had a steriliser, it went in the micro. i couldn't remember exactly what kind as it is now 6yrs ago but i got all my stuff from boots and i've just looked on their web page so i give you the right info. it's simply called a microwave steam steriliser! but they have everthing half price at the minute; pump is £15.00 and steriliser is £13.50!!! those 2 items will be all you need for breast feeding, they have all the bits you need with them. but the sterlilser is out of stock on line but i'm sure you could get one in store or shop round.

i brought a manual tommee tippee closer to nature breast pump for £10 today!!  (from asda on sale, normal price £25) in the set you get a couple of little milk storage pots a closer to nature bottle with slow flow teat the breat pump, 3 lots of breast pads AND the box it comes in as a steralizing box!! i couldnt belive all of that was £10 and its a top range manual pump.   if you just spent a little on a set like this then you wont be wasting money if your little one dosnt take to the bottle. then if they do take to the bottle all you will need is a few more bottles as this set just comes with everything you will need to start off with (minus the bottle brush lol).

i breast fed my daughter for a little while after she was born. luckly she took to the bottle and breast at 1week old with no problems, but most babies need atleast 1month of breast alone to get used to the sucking motion.

chelle,lilly(11 1/2 months)& 34 1/2 week pink bump xx
