Home cooked purees

My baby boy is now 61/2 months old and I'm yet to find some home made veg purees that he'll eat!  I started weaning him at 5 months but I'm finding it a struggle each day to give him food as I don't want him eating jars of food at lunch and tea.  My oldest son ate every puree I ever made so wasn't expecting Zak to be so fussy!!  He seems to like jars with meat in so wondered if I should start putting meat in his purees but then is it ok to freeze them if I do them in batches???  Has anyone else had this trouble? Any advice or recipe ideas would be great!! Julie and Zak

Hi, yes its fine to freeze everything. At this age I was giving my daughter mince and potatoes with carrots pureed down or spag bol as I started weaning at 17 weeks and she ate all the veg so sorry can't be much help on that front! He might like the meals more and hide the veg in it if you know what I mean. Good luck! Jac, Holly 2 and 31 week bump x

Hi.  I bought the Annabel Karmel New Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner (much cheaper from Amazon) for my 8 month old.  There are some fab recipies including ones with meat and fish to puree.  It also tells you which meals you can freeze.  So far my little one has enjoyed all of them.  Wish I had bought it for my 3 yr old when he was a baby. I've got the Annabel Karmel book too, it's great knowing what can be frozen. It does a good variety of sweet and savoury food, so there's something for even the fussiest of babies. One tip that I found useful was mixing fruit and veg together as it makes the food taste that little bit sweeter. My 8 months old has eaten everything I've cooked from it so far. Hope this is a help, love Stacey, Jack andEve. (Is that last reply from Chrissie who's married to Dean? I know they don't like you to put surnames on here).
