My daughter is almost 4 months and the milk is not filling her, I know you are supposed to wait till 6 months but I dont think she will hold on till then, when is a good time to start?

Hi, I had this problem and started giving my lo a tsp of baby rice at teatime when she was about 17 weeks old.  My hv said it was ok because back in "the old days" they used baby rice to thicken milk for babies that had bad reflux to help it stay down.  I managed to keep with just this till she was about 20 weeks old then started with veggies. She is 6 months now and just havin mini versions of our meals.  There are indicators to look out for to suggest they might be able to manage with food, things like sitting up unsupported, putting things in there mouths and biting them, the list goes on, google it or ask your hv.  Have you tried offering more milk more often, it could just be a growth spurt.  My lo was on 8oz every 3 hours in the day, it was getting rediculous!  Hope I havn't just babbled on! lol! hi my daughter brooke is 18 weeks old and she is on the hungry baby milk.  i started her on rusks about 6 weeks ago and now she is on the jars of stage one baby food.  i also put my sons on solids at a young age as it was the only thing that would settle them,  maybe try baby rice or a rusk to start with. kelly

hi my little girl is 7months now but i started her on baby rice at 4months for about 3weeks and then introduced her to fruit and veg.  I think as long your not giving them meat and to much it isnt going to do them any harm and some babies need it. do what you feel is right.  hope this helps xxx

hi it not really true that you have to wait till 6months you can start weaning her now as i did with my son at 4months ,you can get powder meals that you mix with water for 4 to 6 month babys thats what i gave my son and he loved them you can even buy breakfast for them asda stores have a great range of baby food that starts at 4 months
