Green Policy

Did you know...

The fluffy absorbent fibres in Huggies® nappies are made from wood pulp sourced only from suppliers with Sustainable Forestry Certification.

The facts as we know them today...

There are internationally recognised standards to ensure that the forests and plantations are managed responsibly.

With forest certification, an independent organisation develops standards of good forest management, and independent auditors issue certificates to forest operations that comply with those standards. This certification verifies that forests are well-managed - as defined by a particular standard - and ensures that the products come from responsibly managed forests.

Our point of view...

Kimberly-Clark, (the makers of Huggies®) recognised many years ago the need for a sustainable approach to purchasing wood. That is why we have had one of the most forward thinking and progressive policies in the industry to ensure we source materials from sustainable sources.

We are committed to responsible fibre procurement practices and the sustainable use of all natural resources. We strive to ensure all of the wood pulp we use comes from sustainable managed forests.

Our global aim is for all of our wood pulp to come from suppliers that have certified their forests or fibre procurement activities.

All of the wood pulp used in the manufacture of Huggies® nappies, pants and wipes comes from certified suppliers so you can be assured that it comes from legal and sustainable sources.

100% of the wood pulp that Kimberly-Clark purchases for the manufacturing of Huggies® nappies comes from suppliers that have had their forestry operations or wood fibre procurement activities certified to one of the Forest Certification Systems listed below.

The Forest Certification Systems Kimberly-Clark recognizes are the:

  • Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
  • Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI)
  • Canadian Standards Association's National Sustainable Forest Management Standards (CSA)
  • Sistema Brasileiro de Certificação Florestal (CERFLOR) in Brazil
  • Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC).

None of the wood used in Huggies® nappies comes from forest areas requiring protection, including primary tropical rainforests.
