Telling work?

hi   everyone,

I was just wondering when you all have told your work about your pregnancy?  I am a teacher so on summer hols right now so will be 16 weeks when i go back to work.  I can def see a change to my shape already so don't know how I will look then!!  I am excited as this is my first but also still a bit nervous as my sis lost her last pregnancy at 16 wks.   This added to the fact that I work in a big school with your usual quota of gossip going on makes me feel not too willing about telling people too soon.  But then it might be dead obviuos and I will tell my mates in work so will someone let the cat out of the bag?  Aagh, just don't know what to do!

Any advice much appreciated!!  Z & bump x

Hey there, As regards telling work as long as you tell them by the 25th week of your pregnancy as regards maternity leave that is all you have to do legally as far as I'm aware.  i have no expirience of this as I'm a stay at home mum, and house wife so I didn't have to tell anyone as regards work.  As for gossip let them it's your body your decision to tell who and when.  I couldn't keep my pregnancy a secret from 6 weeks I was violently sick all day everyday and there's only so long that a stomach bug and possible food poisioning go on.  Hope this helps hayley Alexander 2 years and Jennifer-May 6 months.

Hi, I told my work when I was 12wks, I didnt need to cos wasnt showing but I work in a school as well and to be honest I felt rough most of the time and so people were more relaxed around me an understood if I needed to sit down or go toilet. Also, im a teaching assistant so I didnt want to be climbing up ladders to do displays or breaking up fights, so it might be a good Idea to tell ur work for safety reasons espec if your worried, you dont have to tell everyone just maybe people you work directly with. hope everything goes well:)
