I actually read you can only claim it once now i.e. if you have had children before and claimed it you won't get it this time but not sure when this takes effect it might be April next year, my midwife did tell me one was changing this August.... I didn't get it with my first but got it this time, it really helps! Good luck - Jac, Holly 2 and 34 week bump x

Hi Ladies, my friend has told me about sure start i'm only 11 weeks into my first pregnancy but was wondering when you should apply. Is it too early?

hi emily. jacs right, in april it changes to 1st child only. i've looked into it cos i'm only 9weeks so i was wondering if i would get it, i'm due march so will make it just in time.

i only just qualify for the other grant at £190, if i remember right you have to be 25weeks by 1st jan so i will just qualify for that. that one is stopping alltogether, jan being the final qualifying date. so i'm unsure what's changing in aug like jacs midwife said.

hi lou. it depends on your situation. if your working wait until you have claimed child benefit then tax credits which are both after baby is born. you have 3mths to sort it out. if your on benefits now you can claim from 29th week. i'm not working but as my huby is, i'm going to wait until i have the other's sorted out first to be on the safe side. you'll only just be in time for the £190 too.
