I am so scared...

Hi everyone. I am 6 months pregnant and scared out of my wits. It's not even normal worrying either, I can sit there for hours panicing about the pain. It's driving me mad. Is this normal or do you think I should go and speak to the midwife? Everyone keeps saying that as soon as I hold my daughter I will forget all about it, but somehow I cant see this happening. I cry at paper cuts, so I dont even want to imagine the labour pain. x

Congrats on ur baby :) And thank you so much for you words. I went to see midwife today and she has sort of put my mind at rest. As for clothes thats a completly different story. I think I have too much of everything haha. I went a bit mad with the Disney stuff :) The thing thats confusing me now is matresses for cots and moses baskets. They have loads of different varieties and each do different things. But like my midwife said to me, it's my baby and it will adapt to what you like because it won't know any different. This sort of made me feel better, because there really is no list of what to do to be a good mum :) x

Hiya gorsty,

Congrats on being pregnant!  Just noticed you writing about matresses.  I have just sorted mine out and after a bit of research have been told never to buy or use a second hand one as you dont know how old they are. Try and buy as good a quality as you can afford. Go for breathable material on both your moses basket and cot/cotbed. If you are getting a cot, it doesnt really have to be sprung but if you go for a cotbed make sure you get a sprung matress as your little one will be using up to around 5 years old so will be more comfortable as they get bigger and heavier.

As for the pain,  hey, we're women and can take it and if you can't get some pain relief! You dont come out the other side with a medal for being brave!! To be honest though, I know it sounds strange but you will cope with it for the amazing gift you get at the end of it all!

Hope this helps, good luck with everything!!

Hiya, I'm just over 6 months also with my second. Its sometimes worse second time round as you know what to expect! For me, it wasn't the labour but the recovering process. I got to the hospital and it was really hurting, checked me and I was only 3cm dilated - once you get in there though its ok, I had a bath which is great to begin with, I had the jag in my bum think its diamorphine and paracetomal, kind of put me to sleep for a bit. By 6cm I took gas and air and its amazing, really helps, I'll try hold off as  long as I can this time too as by 9cm I was asking for an epidural but it was too late, I was  glad anyway as want to be mobile afterwards. Recovering it was like peeing needles for a good 2-3 weeks and for me this was worse than the labour.

First few weeks were the hardest, I breastfed for 3 of them so I was sore going to the loo and started bleeding on one nipple I gave up but baby slept alot better on formula and was getting a better sleep so I felt alot better too. Now its kind of a memory and will be starting all over again soon! You soon forget about it and its worth it in the end, good luck and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!
