I was just wondering if any1 has the same problem and is worried about the birth or has had spd and has a story to share with me on how it went, ive heard scarey stories and just thought i'd ask for people opinions and stories. Hi Lisa, I had spd during my pregnancy but was only diagnosed 2 weeks before my due date. Although this was on my notes when I did go into labour and into hospital my partner was constantly having to remind doctors/midwifes of my condition and not to put my legs in stirrups etc. I ended up having an emergency c section (not because of the spd) but did feel that whilst in labour the spd was ignored therefore i suffered more after giving birth and it took me a long while to recover and be able to walk normally.  This was my first child so i dont know if i would have felt any different without spd (pain wise). I hope i havent scared you further but you must make sure that when you do go into labour that all parties are aware. I know the pain is awful but if this is your first its all worth it!! Hope ive helped. Donna and now a 20mnth old gorgeous little boy.

Hi Donna thanx 4 ur reply, ive had a physio appointment come through but its 2wk before im due and unable to attend due to other commitments. It is on my notes but ive heard that alot of people felt that it was ignored, I already have a little boy who is nearly 2 so trying to keep up with his demands and manage the pain is very difficult when it is at its worse. Ive heard people have c-section due to having spd and i know you say it was not the reason in your case but could this happen? When i speak to my midwife she tends to just brush it off asthough it isnt her worry and she has refferred me and thats her bit done and i suppose it is but she hasnt gone into any detail on how it can affect labour hence why im asking other mummies for there experiences to try and get a real life story lol. Ive looked it up on the internet but i feel you can read 2 much into negatives so gave this up as a bad job lol, once again thanx 4 ur reply. (Lisa)

hi lisa i had spd with my second and from very early on in the pregnancy i ended with crutches and really struggled to walk without them ! However my labour was fine it lasted 12 hours everyone in the hospital was great it did take me a while to find a positon i was comfortable in i found i could not use the ball as it hurt my pelvis to much i found the kneeling or on my back was best . They did end up using the vontouse to get her out but that was because she was so big and her shoulder was kind of trapped on my pelvis ( nothing to do with the spd ) !  I recoverd soon after , she is now 21months and i am  now 13wks + 5 with my 3rd and so far have had no signs of spd returning .

Hope this helps and everything goes ok from katharine

hi lisa i had spd with my first from 22 weeks but when i fell pregnant with my second it happend straight away. it was agonising every time i told my midwife she just said it was spd, but when i could hardly walk or drive or even lift my todler up (by this time i was 8 months pregnant) she said i could of had physio but it would not be worth it at this point. i saw a consultant due to the size of my baby and she was lovely and understanding at this point i had gone 10 days over and could not take any more of the pain, she managed to book me in for an induction at term+12 as my hospital will not induce before 40+14 unless the baby was in danger. i went in to labour naturally the day before induction, i can honestly say as soon as the contractions started the spd pains stopped completely i had a 8 hour labour and as soon as my baby boy was born weighing 8lb 3oz everything went back to normal. just make sure you get the right help. i think midwifes need to listen to us and be more aware of spd. hope all goes well x
