Ladies, last week i had a growth scan which showed the baby had grown nearly 3 pound is 6 weeks so im now 29 weeks and my baby weighs 4 pound! they said they are pretty sure it was caused by me having gestational diabetes but now i have test results back to say im all clear. My dates are not wrong so i am confussed as to what has caused baby to grow quickly in short space of time. Im seeing a consultant today so will ry and get as much info as possible, just woundered if you ladies have been thorugh this or know anyone who has been. help please i feel very confussed now :(

 i got tested 4 that also and came back clear i went into hospital at 30 weeks thought waters breaking but all ok said ethan my son would be big and he was 5 days late and weighed 8 6oz so not so big passed 30 weks they say a pound ever 2 weeks so extra 5 pound ontop so wot that 9 pound baby????i wouldnt worry too much cos they will sort it maybe prem labour maybe?? x x

Hi, my last baby was 9lb 15 so I had to have a GTT at 28 weeks which came back clear. They then booked me for a growth scan at 34 weeks. I had the scan and was told that she was 7 and half pounds so would be about 10lbs when born but booked me for another growth scan at 38 weeks. At that scan the growth rate had slowed and showed that she was under 9lb and would be just over when she was born. They then booked me an appointment for the day before I am due and said they would give me a date to induce me as obviously babies carry on putting on weight after the due date and they don't her to get too big (my 9lb 15 baby came 2 days late so I dread to think how big he would have been if I had gone 2 weeks over). I am due next week and have my appointment on Wednesday, I am relieved that they are going to arrange for me to be induced and not let me go over as I am really fed up now and can't wait to hold her in my arms. Maybe your baby had a growth spurt or is just going to be big but at least you are being monitored as I have heard stories about big babies getting stuck etc. Also the scans are not always right, my friend was told her baby was going to be over 10lb and came out 8lb 14.

Try not to worry, just enjoy all the extra scans you are getting, on my last one I saw her open her mouth, blob her tongue out and swallow, it was lovely to see. Good luck, hope everything goes ok. Kerry.

Hi, I have to have that at 28 weeks as my first was 9lb 10oz and they reckon it could have been GD that caused him to be big.  To be honest I don't really mind if this one is another big one!  Yes, the labour was difficult, I had to be induced at 42 wks, forceps, ventouse then finally a c'section as he was to big to come out (Im only 5ft 3, petite build) and the midwife said all through my labour that he was around the 7lb mark!!  Personally, I dont think I had GD as its a bit of a family trait to have big babies but if it is found that I have, it can be controlled so you go on to have a healthy baby so I wouldnt worry to much.  My consultant has offered me an elective section at 38 wks but have chosen to see how big he is at a 36 wk scan.  If he's a biggy I may take him up on the offer, if he measures fine I'll wait and hopefully have him normally.  Just try and enjoy your bump time without worrying.  Take care, Lou, and bump 24 + 1 xx
