just having a moan so i appologise, im 40+1 weeks. and i am very fed up. i was convinced as well as others that i wouldn't make it to my due date but i am at the moment one day over and doesn't look like baby is going to make an apperence any time soon so im very fustated. im booked in to have a sweep at +7 days but i really hope i dont have to have one and i haven't heard of it working with anyone. and i really don't want to be induced. ive tried eveything to encourage labour but nothing :( . hope eveyone elses pregnancys are going ok. from charlotte and unknown sex bump.

my sister had a sweep at 40 + 1 with both her kids and both times went into labour that night and gave birth at 40+ 2... so for her it worked twice.  i didnt have the sweep i wanted to go into labour on my own and eventualy did at 40+9 and gave birth at 40+11. even though i didnt have the sweep to try and start labour they still had to give me one while i was in labour to get things going a bit faster.

if you dont think the sweep will work for you then you can just ask not to have one and see if it starts on its own like i did (but i still needed one once i was in labour). i think it would be worth giving it a go if your really fed up of being pregnant because it just might work.  nipple stimulation and sex make oxitocin wich is a naturaly occurring hormone, they use the synthetic version of this in a drip to induce you if the pills or gel dont work. you do have to massage your nipples for a long time to have any sort of affect though. with me i found all it did was give me braxton hicks.

I'm 40+5 weeks and fed up, went to my midwife today who said she would put me in for a sweep and 41+5; another WHOLE week. i've sooo had enough now and like you everyone said that i wouldn't make it to my due date. with any luck you will go into spontaneous labour thats what i'm hoping  for; i personally dont want to wait another week lol. good luck charlie, skye, and bump 40+5

hi. i hated waiting for my overdue baby, she came at 40+10. i didn't have a sweep, i didn't want one, i was booked in the next day for one, not through choice! that was the latest my midwife would leave it as she said you have to have a sweep before 42 to say that you've had one and tried it before you go to hospital for induction. baby will come when ready, i'd cancel the sweep personally and wait and wait and wait!!! if you're not wanting one you could ask for one booked at 40+10 or 11. they can't force you, only advise and you've got untill 42weeks. the sweep will probably only work if baby's about ready anyway. it could give you pain for no reason.

before mine came, i had no sign that she would be making her apperance any time soon, nothing, no braxton's, no show, no waters, but she did! i went to bed and woke half an hour later with pains.

try and make plans for every day, even if it's just going a walk, do something to take your mind of when? when? when?!!! fingers crossed for you both!
