Hey I'm due a month after you with my 2nd. There's only a 3 1/2 year gap but it seems things have changed since then! Like being able to have peanuts (providing no allergy in close relatives- I craved them last time but didn;t have any cos didn't think I could) and prices of everything! I'm starting to buy things like wipes, nappies, muslin squares, toiletries etc to keep the cost down for when the baby arrives.

I don;t think there is a perfect age gap. But at least your first son had lots of time being an only child and now is old enough to realise that the baby will take up a lot of your time and energy, without getting jealous and should be settled with his own hobbies and school etc.

good luck with it all :)

hey thank you for your reply, glad it isnt just me who sees that things have changed, you have a nice age gap and i agree with you that my son is at a great age and is old enough, hes so helpful at the mo and really is interested in all things baby, hospital, doctors, scans, names everything

i have got most of my baby things just needing to get a cot its just the cost of all of it, i havnt even started getting nappies ect yet thats the next thing, what are muslin squares? they never had them when i had my first son

do you know what your hanving this time? have you thought of names yet? where are you from?

hi,

Muslin squares are these pieces of material that you basically use when burping to catch any sickie bits. They are great to have around the house instead of having to strap a bib on all the time which my little boy hated! They have them in my Tesco on offer at the mo. 6 for £3 or something.

I have my scan on Friday, when I hope I can find out what it is. We are really struggling with names for boys but we love Aimee Joan for a girl.

 What about you?

I'm quite a way from you, Essex in East Anglia

I really can't wait til the scan! Am hoping to find out if its a boy or girl. Went to my reflexologist today and she says she knows what it is and has written it on my notes but won't tell me yet! haha

No, not on facebook or anything. will have to sort out getting on there. I'm Leah by the way.

Kids are so funny. My little boy keeps coming up with random names that aren;t even real names! Like pingpong and stuff like that, Bless!

Eli is a nice name - unusual but not ridiculous like some names!
