I have recently become unemployed ( just before christmas) and have now found out im pregnant (14 weeks and 1 day) i have been claiming for the first time ever job seekers allowence and i am looking for work before the baby is due. However, what do i say to a protential employer? By law i dont have to tell them im pregnant until 15 weeks before im due but im sure they going to notice before hand when i start to get bigger!

So i was just wondering what people think i should say or do? I do want to work i hate not working it really boring and i have work since i was 13 and had my first paper round!

Well you could be honest with people and do temping work that way there are no lies as i dont think it would go down to well with an employer when they did find out you where pregnant.  I no it must be so hard at the moment but trust me some days you will be glad your off! Good luck in what you decide to do x

I' was made redundant at the beginning of Dec when I was 8 weeks, I have been claiming job seekers allowence too. I have just today been offered a job (panic set in... ) I searched online and found this information copy the below links and have a look it has made me feel a little better. I think I'm going to wait until I have signed the contract. I have got a bit of a bump now I'm 20 weeks, I'm still scared find out next week!!! Induction on Thursday!! Good luck with the job hunting.

i no how u feel .... i was doing seasonal work march-end of october....however was fainting and being sick early on in pregnant boss realised he aint stupid he then said no more work for me from start of september.....

been claiming job seekers allowance from october i think really wanted to find a job as i am a working girl have been since about 14 working weekends and all school holidays with my mum... im due 10th may now coming up to being 29weeks pregnant on monday still on job seekers allowance due to where i live dont help hardly no work about and have to relie on buses for transport and theres only one bus every hour so dont have much chance.

Its not nice when u want to work and cant get employed not even part time when you are in early stages of pregnancy!

I have been told that on monday 22nd im due to sign on again but apparently i have to sign off because i will be 29weeks then and go on income support not to sure just what i have heard?

Anyone No where i stand coz now i have big bump i no no way will get employed!

Thank you all for your advice!

The woman at the job centre said about temping, and my friend has told be about a supply job where she works ( im a qualified level 3 nursery assistant) However, if anyone works with children they will know how busy it can be so i think a lot of employers will be but off by having a new starter who might struggle with a lot of things!I am interested in anything but i just dont think i will get any luck as who wants to employ a pregnant woman, who needs time off for scans, appointments, sick day etc and to give me 'special treatment'.

Im not too sure about the income support part, im really confused over the whole benefits it took me ages to get my head around job seekers!

So if anyone does know about what things i may be entitled to it would really help! Im not a person who wants to claim anything and do want to work, but how i see it is ive worked since i was 13 and so why shouldnt i get benefits? Other people do who dont even bother looking for work! (sorry about about the rant i just dont want anyone to think i unwilling to work :) )
