Hi. My husband and I are trying to conceive. I would like to know if any of you pregant ladies drank alcohol in the couple of weeks between having sex and waiting to find out if you've conceived or not. Should I give up alcohol totally whilst trying to concieve ?

hi. it's upto you how you feel about it. i didn't drink while waiting for my period but when i came on i drank for about 9 days (not non stop!!) while waiting for ovulation time and so on each month. it took us 6 mths on our 2nd baby, i like a drink and the disapointment each month can get a bit much, nothing to calm you like a soak in the bath with a glass of wine, for me anyway.

Hi, I'm not a big drinker anyway, more of a binge one. If my dates are right we conceived the week leading up to Christmas and I had a good drink on Christmas Day then New Years Day then I found out in the middle of January I was pregnant. First time round I didn't find out until I was 7 weeks and I had been drinking quite a lot (for me) I'd had a hen night, wedding, weekend away etc so had drank about 4 weekends in a row but the doctor said its done now and Holly is fine, they do say to abstain if you can but I don't think you can stress out too much about it. hi when me and my boyfriend decided to start trying for a baby we didn't think it would happen quite so quickly so i was drinking while we were trying to conceive. We started trying at the end of December 2006 and in the Feb of 2007 we went on holiday to Portugal. I was due on the day that we flew out to Portugal but my periods previous had been a bit irregular. I drank the whole time that we were on hol and when i still hadn't come on by the time we got back a week later i did a pregnancy test and it was positive. i stopped drinking as soon as i found out but those few weeks didn't do any harm and my beautiful healthy baby girl was born in the October. I'm now expecting my second and again with this one i drank (not excessively) pretty much up untl i found out i was pregnant and so far everything is going well.

i drank a little here and there...i'm mainly just a special occasions drinker ^_^ if you listen to the health professionals they tend to say don't drink but it's your choice at the end of the day. a glass of wine here and there hasn't been proven to reduce chances of conception and damage an unborn child... good luck ^_^ xx
