The Government has recently announced plans to scrap the tax relief on childcare vouchers, which will mean basic rate taxpayers lose out on about £900 a year.  If you're ever likely to use a nursery, childminder, nanny or after-school club, this change affects you!  You can make the Government think twice by signing the official petition at http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/keepvouchers - over 54,000 signatures so far!

I think getting rid of these is a really bad idea. However saying that I do think they need to be looked at as depending on how much you earn depends on whether you get £250 or £500 per child. We are a one income family but hubby earns above the limit to receive the £500. I have a friend whos hubby earns below the limit and they have 5 kids. So with her hubbys wages, child benefits housing benefits etc they are better off than we are. We find it pretty hard to save money from the monthly income but do use www.Kidstart.co.uk where we can so that at least this way we are saving for the kids.
