Hi Every1, I have my 20 week scan in 2wks, and was just wondering would any 1 know if it would be a bit more detailed this time as at my 12week scan they only did the scan dat was it!! also i tink i have felt my baby move but im not sure wat it feels like as this is my first baby!! any advice?????  Mary & 17weeks & 4 day lil bump xxx

Yes, the 20 week scan is much more detailed than the 12 week one.  Coz the baby is so small at 12 weeks, its difficult for them to see much, ohter than how many babies are in there, if there's a heartbeat and a few measurements of the head and legs.

At the 20 week scan they can see much more and are actually looking for some deformaties that they are able to see, if the baby is roughly the correct size, and of course, they can even see the sex of the baby - if it's lying in a clear position! I read it normally takes 20 minutes - compared to the 5 minutes I had at 12 weeks!

I've got an amnio tomorrow so will be able to see baby on the scan screen while they do it - it will almost be worth the pain!! Then my 20 week scan is on 23 October, so I get another little peek before they arrive!

hi, im only 8 weeks pregnant this time, but have got a 16 month old daughter. the 20 week scan is more detailed, as like paula says, they take measurements and check that the baby is ok.

mary, you are probably feeling the baby move, as i started feeling my daughter properly at 17 weeks. its a lovely feeling, and wait til you get proper kicks, its amazing when you can see your belly moving, and bits poking out.

got my 20 week scan on tues! excited to find out what it is hoping is a boy as that would be family made as alread got girl. My last 20 week scan was 45 mins compared to the half hearted 20 i got at both my 12s!  This time you will reconise most of their limbs ur self. See the heart beatin clearly and also the sex! dont 4get full as poss blader equals better shots of ur baby.

As for kicks i have had strong flutters since 14 weeks with my first wasnt till 17 weeks. now nearly 20 wk n feelin that nice feelin of a poss nudge to move out that possition.
