hi all  i am 9 weeks pregnent with my 3rd baby and i have been suffering with constipation from day 1 it's horriable i've even had laxatives of the doctors and even though it helps me to go its still not right and the minute i stop taking the medication it starts again it even got to the point where i now bleed when i go. i never suffered with this with either of my girls so its new to me but  i was just wondering if anybody had any tips on what i could do or eat or anything just while i wait to see the doctor again...clare

Hi Clare,

I had this with my 1st 2 pregnancies, now 14 weeks with my 3rd, and have it again!  I was using Senna tablets as they say they're safe during pregnancy & are working ok.

My midwife did tell me during the booking in appointment to drink at least an extra litre of water a day to prevent constipation & headaches - which I also seem to be getting a lot of this time around.

Paula.

You could try drinking Nettle Leaf Tea. Apparently, not only is it meant to ease constipation, but it is full of all sorts of goodies for your system during pregnancy. There is some info on it on the Herb Lore website. I hope it heps!   www.herblore.com
